I'll be honest with you here, I very nearly turned this off after about 15 minutes...but I'm so glad I didn't.
It does start off slow but honestly stick with it. One scene marks a change of pace within the film where it goes from 0 to 100 very quickly.
You think you know where the stories going, but believe me you have absolutely no idea. A very well written film that not only played mind games, but was wonderfully layered. Fantastically shot with some well placed frames, cutaways and quick judders to really make the audience feel uneasy.
The cast were great, the two leads Allison Williams & Logan Browning stood out and had great chemistry on screen. For me though Steven Weber took the bullet here, the way he played out his character for certain events to unfold later in the film was truly unsettling...quite sickening actually.
I did enjoy the ending as I thought it stayed in character with the rest of the film and, I felt, it was the final 'mind-fuck' so to speak. It left the audience feeling nervous and a little disturbed.
All in all a wonderfully fresh film where you'll find more than meets the eye. Definitely recommend watching this one!
The Perfection is now available to stream via Netflix.
