This week, Netflix made the shock announcement that the Fede Alvarez produced Texas Chainsaw Massacre sequel will be heading onto its platform February 18th 2022, as well as revealing the first look images and trailer (which you can check out below).
Legendary and Netflix have also unveiled the full synopsis of the film, which includes the return of Tobe Hooper's original final girl Sally Hardesty.
"After nearly 50 years of hiding, Leatherface returns to terrorise a group of idealistic young friends who accidentally disrupt his carefully shielded world in a remote Texas town."
“Melody (Sarah Yarkin), her teenage sister Lila (Elsie Fisher), and their friends Dante (Jacob Latimore) and Ruth (Nell Hudson), head to the remote town of Harlow, Texas to start an idealistic new business venture. But their dream soon turns into a waking nightmare when they accidentally disrupt the home of Leatherface, the deranged serial killer whose blood-soaked legacy continues to haunt the area’s residents — including Sally Hardesty (played this time by Olwen Fouéré), the sole survivor of his infamous 1973 massacre who’s hell-bent on seeking revenge.”
The film, written by Chris Thomas Devlin, is directed by David Blue Garcia and produced by Fede Alvarez. Much like the latest Halloween trilogy from Blumhouse, Universal and David Gordon Green, Legendary have made this upcoming film a direct sequel to Tobe Hooper's 1974 slasher.
