With Scream 5 now in post production, fans are itching for any bit of information about the upcoming sequel. And lucky for us, Bloody Disgusting have picked up some pretty juicy information.
The horror website discovered that the fifth film in the franchise has multiple versions of the film and screenplay.
"Bloody Disgusting exclusively learned today that there are not only multiple versions of the Scream screenplay, but also the movie, with the purpose to obfuscate fans who want to spoil the final product. This was confirmed by the filmmakers earlier this morning."
Of course any Scream fan will know this is not the first time this has happened in the franchise. If you remember correctly a Scream 2 draft managed to find its way online forcing last minute rewrites from Kevin Williamson. Craven and the team learnt from it and multiple scripts and edits have been the norm since. Whether or not this is just a precaution no one knows...only time will tell.
Scream, directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett of the filmmaking group Radio Silence, will mark the first film in the series without involvement from the great Wes Craven. Luckily for fans a lot of familiar faces are returning to reprise their iconic roles including Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette. The film is set for a January 2022 release date.
