Predator: Hunting Grounds is a must for any Predator fan!

So much like a lot of fans worldwide this weekend, I downloaded the free game trial for Predator: Hunting Grounds. And it is an amazing game!

Predator: Hunting Grounds basis is mainly the original 1987 film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. The players are either one part of a military team or the Predator.

As this is a free trial demo as opposed to the full game, I feel I've barely scratched the surface of what this game has to offer. To start the game has much to offer in the way of customisations for both your soldier and your Predator. Different weapons, looks and costumes (each with their own advantages) are just some of whats on offer. Haven't managed to do much in the way of that currently but it's a great thing to have in the game going forward. And I have heard Arnie has done voice work for this game, so potentially Dutch could be part of this game in the future (fingers crossed!).

Just from the demo, there's already a lot of positives to take away from this game. The developers have absolutely nailed the look and feel of the first Predator film. From everything from the levels you find yourself in to the kills you can perform. There's a lot in this game that will out a huge smile on your face if you're a Predator fan.

The Predator features an entire array of weapons seen in the entire film series (not just the first) ranging from the infamous wrist blades and shoulder mounted plasma cannon from Predator through to the netgun seen in Alien vs Predator. In addition to this you get the chance, whilst playing as the Predator, to perform an entire variety of kills from the series whilst having the physical and technological advancements over the team of soldiers you are hunting. You have all of the Predator's tools and tricks at your disposal. These include the use of trees, leaping and jumping large distances and (of course) the iconic thermal vision and cloaking ability.

As for playing as the soldier, the format follows basic first person controls. But again, as they have done with the Predator, they have made multiple weapons, loadouts and looks from the iconic series available. Much like the first film, you are in that jungle to do a job as you complete objectives and missions whilst trying to fight off enemies and the Predator. The tension is always there! You're doing well with the mission then bang, Predator appears from nowhere and takes half of you out. It makes for some great tension and fantastic gameplay. But much like Dutch in the first film, there's ways of really taking on that ugly motherfucker using your weapons and even being able to cloack yourself using the mud in the jungle. And I won't lie it's tough to kill the Predator, but it is possible to both kill and escape it!

All in all, the developers have done an incredible job bringing this game to life! The graphics and gameplay are fantastic! Much like Friday the 13th: The Game, most of the playing is to be done online. It doesn't look like there will be a 'story mode' so to speak but as it's the same developers as the Friday the 13th Game I remain hopeful that there'll be some offline play available. Like the challenges and offline bot play modes already available for that game. I will admit this game (currently) does have a few control issues, bugs and glitches...but in the grand scheme of things they're nothing. It's a good enough game that it will hook you in and leave you wanting to play more. And of course I have no doubt these minor issues will be taken care of soon.

If you haven't downloaded the trial yet get on it as it's only available until tomorrow! You can pre-order it as well. The full game will be released 24 April 2020 on Playstation and PC.
