Odessa A'zion Cast as Lead in New Hellraiser Film

The Hellraiser series has been a fan favourite within the horror community since Clive Barker's 1987 adaptation of his novel 'The Hellbound Heart', and of course gave us the now iconic character Pinhead as portrayed by Doug Bradley. The series has spanned 10 films for the last 35 years, the most recent being 2018's Hellraiser: Judgement. Unfortunately a lot of the sequels have been nowhere near the same standard as the first three films (well for me anyway). And they have just cast the film's lead.

Spyglass Media are said to be re-booting the franchise and appear to have found their lead for the upcoming David Bruckner film. Actress Odessa A'zion has been confirmed to be cast as the lead role in the upcoming film, the news broke from The Illuminerdi last weekend. Her biggest roles to date of course being Netflix's Grand Army and CBS' Fam. The film is being penned by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski and has no set release date as of yet. As to what her 'lead role' is...I honestly don't know. It has been said that film m

akers were looking to swap the gender of Pinhead for the series (as opposed to the film). Unfortunately that is as much as we know about the upcoming film at the moment, we will be sure to update you as soon as we know.

Of course in addition to the upcoming film, a Hellraiser Series is also being developed at HBO Max. The series looks to explore the backstories of Pinhead and his fellow Cenobites with Mark Verheiden and Michael Dougherty writing the script and Halloween's David Gordon Green on board to direct. And in an even more exciting turn of events, the series will be bringing back Clive Barker himself to act as executive producer.
