Lee Cronin Set To Make 'The Mummy'
Plot details are non existent at the moment, but hopefully we'll get more of an idea soon. Cronin is reportedly "hoping to breathe new life into ageless evil."
“This will be unlike any Mummy movie you ever laid eyeballs on before. I’m digging deep into the earth to raise something very ancient and very frightening,”
Something terrifying will be unleashed in 2026 - @blumhouse
The iconic movie monster has been a staple within the genre since the original Universal film in 1932 starring Boris Karloff. That of course led onto multiple sequels and other adaptations of the story like, Hammer Films' 1959 film with Sir Christopher Lee donning the bandages.
Universal managed to breathe new life into it again in 1999 with Stephen Sommers incredible action-horror that pitted Arnold Vosloo against Brendan Fraser. That of course went onto the equally fun The Mummy Returns, before the lacklustre Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. Universal again tried to recapture that magic of the '32 & '99 films with a Tom Cruise reboot to launch their Dark Universe. After its underwhelming release with both critics and fans panning the film, it halted any further plans for the Dark Universe.
