A Chucky TV series, from Nick Antosca and Child's Play creator Don Mancini, was officially ordered by SyFy last month. And, much to every fans delight, actress Jennifer Tilly has confirmed her involvement.
She revealed the news in an interview with Page Six .
"I’m so excited. Chucky is very near and dear to my heart. All over the world, everywhere I go, I step off a plane to a country I didn’t even know existed, and they know one word, and that word is ‘Chucky,’ and they want a hug. I never meant to be a horror film icon, but here it is. It’s nice to have fans.”
The series is said to continue on from Cult of Chucky with this synopsis-
After a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies — and allies — from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.
Mancini has previously given us some insight as to what to expect.
"The show will be a fresh take on the franchise, allowing us to explore Chucky’s character with a depth that is uniquely afforded by the television series format, while staying true to the original vision that has terrorized audiences for over three decades now."
The series is set to begin shooting this summer. For now, the release date is unknown.
