Announced just before Christmas 2024, the comedy duo of Jack Black & Paul Rudd will be starring in a reboot of the cult classic 90s creature feature.
The Anaconda franchise is being revived with a fresh reboot from film maker Tom Gormican. As reported by THR-
The studio announced Friday that filmmaker Tom Gormican’s reimagining of the 1997 snake-focused horror movie will hit theaters just in time for the holidays on Dec. 25, 2025. Paul Rudd and Jack Black star in the new feature from Columbia Pictures
The two actors made appeared in the announcement video Sony dropped Dec 20th, 2024, which you can watch below. Daniela Melchior (James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, Road House) will star alongside Rudd and Black.

Gormican (who is also directing) co-wrote the script with Kevin Etten. Brad Fuller & Andrew Form are on board to produce under Fully Formed.
THR reported that according to sources, the new story involves "a group of friends facing mid-life crises who are remaking their favourite movie from their youth. They head to the rainforest, only to find themselves in a fight for their lives against natural disasters, giant snakes and violent criminals."
Jack Black & Paul Rudd Announce Anaconda Reboot
The 1997 creature feature from Luis Llosa went on to surpass $136million at the box office and spawned four further sequels; one of course being a crossover film with other monster movie franchise Lake Placid.
The original film followed the story of a film crew that is taken hostage by an insane hunter Paul Serone, played by John Voight. Serone then forces them along on his quest to capture the world’s largest – and deadliest – snake. The film also starred Ice Cube, Jennifer Lopez, Eric Stoltz, Owen Wilson, Jonathan Hyde and Danny Trejo.
