Following the success of last year’s Evil Dead Rise, the horror franchise is getting another two films with the first being unleashed in 2026.
Infested film maker Sébastien Vaniček took to Instagram yesterday to announce the next Evil Dead film, which will be titled Evil Dead Burn.
2026 - @sebvanicek
“I told the studio that I wanted to make a nasty film, a film that hurts, from which you come away tested. I’m going to put all the horror I have inside, it will be cathartic, and if I haven’t ruined my career I can continue to make films behind it, I will move on to something other than horror!”
In addition to above, Vaniček also revealed in the same interview with Konbini the studio behind it want to expand the Evil Dead universe with a new original film.
“I got an email from the producer who told me that Warner wanted to make a new 100% original Evil Dead, not related to the rest of the saga. We talked a lot, starting in November and especially with Sam Raimi. If all goes well, it will be a film with a French thing, with a French central character. I want to do post production in France, with my teams. It will be in English, but with one or more French characters who speak English."
The director also revealed if all goes well, shooting could start as soon as early 2025. Based on The Evil Dead, by Sam Raimi, Vaniček (also directing) has co-written the screenplay with Florent Bernard.
Of course in addition to Evil Dead Burn, Ghost House Pictures recently hired Francis Galluppi to write and direct another Evil Dead film, yet to be titled. Deadline described the film “as an original story that Galluppi developed and brought to Raimi and team. No word on a plot or who will be producing, as it’s early days here.”
Evil Dead Burn Releasing 2026
The new recipe for success behind the franchise appears to be Raimi setting up up-and-coming filmmakers to put their own spin on the Deadites and Evil Dead mythology. Alvarez re-introduced the franchise in 2013 and pulled in an impressive near $100 million at the global box office. This of course paved the way for Bruce Campbell to dust off his chainsaw and boomstick and return as Ash in the much loved, short-lived series on Starz. And then of course Lee Cronin’s Evil Dead Rise was a massive success upon its release raking in an even more impressive $147 million globally.
More on these films as we learn it.
