Modern day slasher icon Art the Clown is set to return to the big-screen this Friday (27th Sept) for a Terrifier double-bill, then shortly after on October 11th for his third film. And writer director Damien Leone has admitted he isn’t stopping with the third film.
Terrifier 3 had its World Premiere at FantasticFest on Friday, and Damien Leone admitted in an audience Q&A that followed he intends to make a fourth film.
“Yes, there will be a Terrifier 4.”
Whilst this is not an official announcement and Terrifier 4 hasn’t been green lit as of yet, Leone’s assurance of a fourth is enough to drive Art’s devoted fan base wild. Fangoria dropped the news on Saturday, hopefully there’ll be more to follow.
So how did the premiere go? Well the first reviews are in for Terrifier 3…and it looks like this one may have some audience members reaching for a vomit bag as Leone upped the gore once again.
“Terrifier 3 was, without question, the most disgusting, gory, vile thing I’ve ever seen. I kind of enjoyed it?” - @GermainLussier
“TERRIFIER 3 just might be the goriest movie to ever grace a multiplex screen. David Howard Thornton having a blast, funniest he’s ever been as Art; Lauren LaVera put through the wringer. Possibly the most physically put-upon final girl since Marlyn Burns.” - @PhilNobileJr
“TERRIFIER 3 blew the damn roof off. Gonzo slasher horror cranked up to 11. Bursting with some of the most fantastically diabolical kills ever put to screen (holy shit). Shower scene will go down in history. We have a new contender for best horror movie of the year.” - @sillydeadite
“TERRIFIER 3. Well holy fuck. Damien Leone just painted his Sistine Chapel on the screen with blood and guts. Lauren LaVera slays. Merry #FantasticFest.” - @PrestonBarta
“#Terrifier3 is my favourite of the series so far. A showcase of gore and a maturation of Leone’s ability to shift from impish to emotional in an instant. Harrowing and hilarious at the same time.” - @awalrusdarkly
“TERRIFIER 3 is some of absolutely depraved sicko shit (complimentary). The movie looks AMAZING (2 split diopters!), @_LaurenLaVera_ has an all-timer final girl sequence, and David Howard Thornton absolutely rocks as Art the Clown once again. More lore!!!” – @alexpaps1
“L O L. You silly fools have no idea what is waiting for you in Terrifier 3. You wouldn’t believe what these eyes have seen.” - @Thebelledegore
“TERRIFIER 3. A sicko Christmas blood bath! Leone brings his twisted humour while still hardbouring a darkness that digs deeper into Art the Clown’s lore. Lauren LaVera is outstanding growing her already traumatic broken role. David Howard Thornton’s vaudeville performance is perfect.” - @AnAntLife
“#Terrifier3 goes there and then goes 54 steps further. An absolute splatter fest of unseen propotions. Shower scene that go down in history. Lauren Lavera is such a gread lead. Lots of twisted and next toe dips into the lore, getting very HELLRAISER up in here. Damn.” - @ZProductionz
“TERRIFIER 3 is truly evil. And I mean that in the best possible way. Grindhouse beyond Grindhouse. Truly sickening practical effects mixed with a lore that is getting more and more intricate.” - @JamesPPoole
“TERRIFIER 3: Christmas is solidified as the goriest time of the year- as is @_LaurenLaVera_’s rep as a final girl for the ages. No one’s safe from Art the Clown’s chaos. Tightly focused and gnarlier than other in the series- with an eye towards a brewing holy war?” - @gambit1138
“Just got out of Terrifier 3. WOW, if you thought the Terrifier team couldn’t go further after part two, you’d be dead wrong. Bloody and blasphemous in all the right ways.” - @JacobAtTheMovie
“Holy…Shit. Nothing will prepare you for the beautiful brutality that I just witnessed on screen. TERRIFIER 3 is one of the most vicious films I’ve ever seen in years. I already wanna see it again.” - @spencerink
“Damien Leone somehow finds balance in #Terrifier3, an indulgent, dramatic, and gore-drenched showstopper.” - @TheAVClub
“#Terrifier3 pushes the gore and the lore to new heights. What a picture!” - @DosIncredibles
“#Terrifier3 is THE goriest, bloodiest movie I’ve EVER seen in a theatre. It draws a line very early on that looks you squarely in the eyes, smirks, and then punches you in the face hard enough to send you on a first-class ticket to hell. It’s for the sickos. It’s for me. - @miss_tenenbaum
“’Terrifier3 is a visceral thrill ride that delivers on its promise of brutal gore and chaotic mayhem. While the story feels a bit obligatory in linking the Christmas themed carnage, it manages to inject a dose of dark humour that keeps things entertaining.” - @theFLICKpick
“Art the Clown kills and kills again in Damien leone’s utterly disgusting but undeniably captivating Christmas horror splatterfest #Terrifier3” - @slashfilm
“Damien Leone’s twisted masterpiece. Halloween & Christmas collide in the ultimate horror fan’s wet dream. Violent, scary, engaging- an experience not for the faint of heart. You might just throw up and shit your pants if you make it through to the end.” - @theatomreview
“#Terrifier3 is easily my favourite of the series so far, but it wouldn’t be what it is without the first two films. The story continues from the second movie, adding a depth that only comes from building on what came before- it’s way more than just another gore fest. Art is sillier and jollier than ever, and his freaking Santa outfit makes for a VERY memorable time at the theatre. Art the Clause for the win! /5 stars.” - @jonesvibesonly
“#Terrifier3 is gore, gore and gore. Damien Leon once again pushes back all the barriers of hardcore trash with Terrifier3 on the verge of vomiting overdose. We thought we had seen the worst this year with In A Violent Nature and its famous yoga scene (those who have seen it will understand) but here… Between the massively generous intro in haemoglobin, a long smashing sequence with Santa Claus, a memorable shower scene or the final that repaints all the walls in red, Terrifier 3 is a disgusting festival as we see so often since the great era of underground gore of the 80s.” - @LESTUDIOMATHIAS
Terrifier 3 hits cinemas October 11th 2024. You can check out the latest trailer below.
