Chucky has unfortunately been cancelled after three seasons.
The slasher found a new home on the small screen in his self-titled series that started back in 2021. However, after three seasons SyFy and USA Network have decided to pull the plug on the show. As reported by Variety-
“Chucky has been canceled after three seasons, Variety has learned. Season 3 aired in two parts — the first in October 2023 and the second between April and May 2024. According to sources, there had been discussions of bringing the show back for an abbreviated final season or even a wrap up film, but ultimately to no avail.”
Don Mancini has said he’s heartbroken at the news, but has assured fans this won’t be the last time we’ll see everyone’s favourite maniacal killer doll.
“I’m heartbroken over the news that ‘Chucky’ won’t be coming back for a fourth season, but am so grateful for the killer three years we did have. I’d like to thank UCP/SYFY/Peacock/Eat the Cat, our awesome cast and Toronto-based crew (the best in the business), and finally, to our amazing fans, a big bloody hug. Your incredible #RenewChucky campaign really warmed Chucky’s cold heart. Chucky will return! He ALWAYS come back.”
He later added on X “HE’LL BE BACK”.
Fellow cast members we’re equally stunned by the news, but have joined Mancini is assuring fans you just can’t keep a good guy down.
“I have been on the phone with Don [Mancini, creator of Chucky],” Fiona began. “It was a surprise that we got canceled. It was released last night. At this point, what we’re hoping to do and what should be done and would be normal for a show as successful as Chucky’s been – because the ratings were solidly good and reviewed extremely well; the numbers were great at Peacock – is that it would be marketed to other networks. The extent that there could be pressure on the powers that be to have that happen, I think that everybody who is involved in making the show would appreciate that. There’s no reason on earth why it shouldn’t be marketed to other networks.” – Ffiona Dourif at Chucky panel in Terror Con.
Mancini has hinted at another film earlier in the year, but nothing has been made official. Fans have already begun to show their love for the slasher as #SaveChucky is currently trending on X. Hopefully this means he won’t be absent from the big or small screen for too long!
